Regenerative Medicine

Regenerative medicine utilizes the body’s natural healing properties to heal injured or diseased cells, tissues, or organs to restore optimal function. This changes the “traditional” medical approach of treating disease symptoms with medications or repetitive steroid injections. In contrast, regenerative medicine focuses on treating the root cause of the condition.

Platelet Rich Plasma

  • What is PRP? Platelet-rich plasma is obtained from a patient’s blood sample and is a concentration of platelets, a type of blood cell that contains growth factors and other cytokines.
  • What does PRP do? Platelet-rich plasma aids in regenerating and healing injured soft tissues, such as ligaments, tendons, and muscles.
  • What is PRP used for? Platelet-rich plasma is utilized for many orthopedic and spine conditions; both chronic, such as osteoarthritis, tendinopathy, and degenerative disc, as well as acute injuries such as rotator cuff tears, meniscal tears, ankle sprains, etc. PRP can be used as an inhalation agent for respiratory diseases such as COPD, asthma, emphysema, and post-COVID syndrome. PRP can also be a topical agent to promote facial skin regeneration.

Stem Cell Therapy

  • What are stem cells? Stem cells are the building blocks of life. They are live cells with the potential of replicating other cells they encounter.
  • How do stem cells work? When stem cells are injected into a joint such as a shoulder, knee, or hip, they will regenerate cartilage, ligaments, and/or tendons. When placed in the spine, it can regenerate discs. Stem cells can also be given IV for systemic diseases.
  • Disease processes that benefit from stem:
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Tendon and/or ligament tears
  • Degenerative disc disease
  • Desiccation of spinal disc
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Wounds – slow healing

Exosomes

Exosomes are typically given intravenously (IV) or topically. They are messenger vesicles made up of MRNA, cytokines, proteins, and over 1000 growth factors that promote healing and cell regeneration.
